Assateague and Chincoteague Wild Ponies

October 17th - October 20, 2019

Assateague and Chincoteague Islands have been a dream destination for equine lovers and photographers for decades with over 300 wild horses roaming the area. The area encompasses more than 14,000 acres of beach, maritime forest, saltmarsh, and freshwater marsh habitats. This diverse ecosystem is home to a spectacular variety of wildlife including deer, fox, herons, waterfowl, pelicans and a variety of shorebirds and of course the wild ponies. Join me as we navigate the water via our private boat with Captain Debbie, to the best locations for photographing the ponies in the water, on the shore and in the marshes. Of course we will take in as many landscape and shore bird opportunites as we can. So bring plenty of memory cards, your camera and your quest for adventure.

I have booked extra hours on our boat to ensure we have great sunrise and sunset locations to give us the best opportunities for that dramatic and beautiful light. Our boat tour will offer much more flexibility and amazing vantage points that include the bay and marsh areas. Mid-day will be set aside for editing images, followed by a critique of photos taken during the morning. The workshop is designed to stretch your imagination and help you expand your creative process while adding great images to your portfolio. The workshop is open to all levels of photographers and beginners are encouraged to attend. You will need working knowledge of your camera and its functions.

For those flying you will want to fly into Norfolk Airport (ORF). It is about 2 hours to Chincoteague from there.

The workshop begins Thursday October 17th. You will be able to check into our hotel after 12:00 noon that day. We will be staying at the Comfort Suites in Chincoteague Virgina on the waterfront with beautiful views. We leave just before 5PM four our first sunset boat tour.

Lodging, bus, boat, breakfasts and a group dinner are included.
